The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) received a high-level delegation that included several ambassadors to Bahrain, along with members of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). The group was led by Fareed Bader, Chairman of the Chamber’s Industry and Energy Committee, and joined by representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
The delegation was welcomed by CEO Dr Ahmed Al Abri, Deputy CEO Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, and a number of senior members of the company’s management team.
Dr Al Abri opened the meeting by greeting the visitors and describing the occasion as a chance to build dialogue to advance Bahrain’s maritime sector. He spoke about efforts to strengthen business ties and explore new investment paths. These initiatives support stronger regional links and open the door to greater economic cooperation.
He also explained that such efforts align with ASRY's latest strategies, which focus on expansion, growth, and reaching new markets. These steps, he said, form part of the company’s drive to maintain its position as a leading maritime hub and global supplier of reliable, full-service marine solutions that meet customer needs and stay in step with the pace of global industry change.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Fareed Bader said:
‘On behalf of the Industry and Energy Committee at the BCCI, I would first like to offer our utmost gratitude to Dr Al Abri and his team for their warm welcome today. ASRY has long stood as one of the pillars of Bahrain’s industrial strength. Our visit today is not only to see the fine work being carried out across these yards, but also to seek out ways we might work together and widen the scope of what can be achieved.’
‘It marks a move of purpose. In these unsettled times of geopolitical and economic climate, with the world shifting around us, it has become all the more important to look within for resolve, and beyond our shores for willing partners. Bahrain’s location at the very heart of the Arabian Gulf gives it a natural hand in the maritime trade, and there is no better moment than now to take firm steps towards developing our shipbuilding capabilities.’
The visit shed light on ASRY’s recent operational progress, ongoing work, and future plans. These are expected to advance Bahrain’s industrial development and help position the Kingdom among the world’s leading players in the maritime field.
